In an ideal world, we would all wash off our make-up before we work out, but most of us live on the go, so we rush into cycling class where sweat and oil clog our pores for 45 minutes. I keep Cetaphil face wipes in bag and wipe my face as I leave the studio and walk to my car.
If you’re prone to breakouts, I recommend washing your face with a salicylic acid wash like Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash, as soon as you get home. You can even use a salicylic acid body wash in the shower (Neutrogena Body-Clear Body Wash in Pink Grapefruit because it smells delicious). These can make your skin dry, so use a face moisturizer after. I swear by Cerave Moisturizing Lotion.
Ok let’s talk about “down there.” When you pedal fast throughout a 45-minute class there is a lot of friction that can cause irritation to your inner thighs and groin area. You can use a gentle face moisturizer, like the same Cerave Moisturizing Lotion, to sooth these areas. You can even put a thick layer of Vaseline on high-friction spots before class. If you find you are itching in your groin area after class, it could be “jock itch” (it’s more common than you think and no big deal) and you can treat it with Lotramin Ultra.
